On 2nd of June, Bulgaria marked the 142nd anniversary of the death of the distinguished Bulgarian poet and revolutionary Hristo Botev and those, who gave their life for the freedom and independence of Bulgaria. Hristo Botev is among the most respected and loved Bulgarian national heroes.
In Plovdiv the memory of Botev was commemorated at the monument of the revolutionary in the Garden of Tzar Simeon. The actress Maria Gencheva from the Drama theatre „N. О. Massalitinov“ – Plovdiv recited a poem by Hristo Botev and Prof. Inna Peleva from the Department of Bulgarian literature and literary theory at the Univesity of Plovdiv “Paisii Hilendarski” gave a speech about Botev’s life and ideas.
As a symbol of respect and acknowledgement to Hristo Botev and all who gave their lives for Bulgaria’s liberty, the chairman Mr. Lyubozar Fratev and the executive director Mr. Angel Stoev laid a wreath at the monument of the revolutionary on behalf of the Non-profit association “The Business for Plovdiv”.
