The Association “The Business for Plovdiv” made a statement to European and Bulgarian institutions in support of the Bulgarian carriers. The declaration is addressed to the Chairman of the European Parliament Mr. Antonio Tajani, to the Chairman of the European Commission Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker and to the Head of the EC Representation office in Bulgaria Mr. Ognyan Zlatev. The other recipients are the President Mr. Rumen Radev, the Prime minister Mr. Boyko Borissov, the Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tzveta Karayancheva and the Minister for Transport Mr. Ivaylo Moskovsky.
Text of the declaration:
The Association “The Business for Plovdiv” fully endorses the Bulgarian associations and trade unions from the road transport sector in Bulgaria and states its position against the changes, proposed by the European Commission in the legislation of the European Union in the field of international freight services (Mobility package 1).
We consider that the proposed regulations infringe the global objective of the European Union for a single European market and free trade in goods and services, as well as the fundamental rights and freedoms of the citizens of Europe, by discriminating them with regards to their permanent place of residence. The changes will be particularly hard felt on the transport sector in Bulgaria, which accounts for the 15% of GDP and over 120 thousand jobs. This has created a situation, which effects an unloyal competition between the carriers, a serious crisis in the field of the international road transport and destruction of the transport sector in the countries from Central and Eastern Europe, for the account of its progress in the countries from Western Europe. The adoption of the legislative changes would increase Bulgarian commodity prices and make them uncompetitive on the European market, which would negatively affect not only the Bulgarian carriers, but the whole Bulgarian business.
We declare that legislative changes should be delivered after a detailed expert analysis in the field of transport and complying with the interests of each Member State of the European Union.
The Association “The Business for Plovdiv” urges that the public institutions take all necessary measures to safeguard the interests of Bulgaria as an equal member of the European Union and is ready for an united action as an expression of fundamental disagreement with the policy objective of the European institutions.
