Participation in a round table debate called "A cleaner air in Plovdiv"

The Executive director of the Non-profit association ”The Business for Plovdiv“ Angel Stoev took part in a round table debate called „A cleaner air in Plovdiv“, organized by Maritza Newspaper, the Municipality of Plovdiv and „EVN Bulgaria TP“. The discussion was held on December 7th, 2017, in the House of culture “Boris Hristov“. The Editor-in-Chief Russy Chernev was the moderator and the other participants were the Associate professor PhD Georgi Yordanov, member of the 44th National assembly; dipl. eng. Mariyana Kondaklieva from the Regional inspectorate of Environment and Water – Plovdiv; Elena Naydenova, senior expert „Ecology and waste management” in the Municipality of Plovdiv, Angel Kirov from „EVN Bulgaria TP“, representatives from the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.

Mr. Stoev informed the people present about a research covering the past seven years, based on official data from the automated measuring stations of the Regional inspectorate of Environment and Water in Plovdiv. The research shows that the daily average values of fine particles in the ambient air significantly exceed the emission limit. He drew attention to some inadequate decisions of the local authority, such as the phase-out of use of trolley buses as a part of the public transport in Plovdiv. Mr. Stoev announced that at the beginning of 2018 the Non-profit association ”The Business for Plovdiv“ would carry out a large-scale community consultation, where the Association would present 20 measures to improve the air quality, allowing the citizens of Plovdiv to supplement the list with their ideas and suggestions. He underlined that the goal of the Association was not causing a confrontation with the local authorities, but undertaking the appropriate actions, aimed at solving the long-standing problem with the polluted air in Plovdiv.
