With a ceremony on March 3rd, 2018, the 140th anniversary of the Liberation from Ottoman Rule was marked in Plovdiv. The celebration traditionally took place in front of the Monument to Russian liberators on the top of the Hill of the liberators. The actor Hristo Hristov led the celebration. Mrs. Savina Petkova, Chairwoman of the Plovdiv Municipal council, delivered the official speech to mark the anniversary.
As a sign of acknowledgement to the heroes who laid down their lives in the freedom of Bulgaria, the chairman Mr. Lyubozar Fratev and the executive director Mr. Angel Stoev laid a wreath at the Monument to Russian liberators on behalf of the Non-profit association “The Business for Plovdiv”.
